[HS] Looking for a clan to merge with

Over the past week, a few of us members have been jogging around the idea of us shutting down the clan for good and moving our members into another clan that was also having a hard time like us, and we have came to the conclusion that we rather keep [HS] going and tough it out and throw out the offer to others that if they feel that they like to stay as a group and have a place to congregate and help make a bigger and better clan, but also have the notoriety of some of these larger clans, then look no further, we here at [HS] has opened that up and am allowing for some of these clans to come in and join us under our colors and flag to work as one and build a future for or members and clan.

We here at [HS] have always remained a some what small clan, never trying to becoming a "Huge" clan. At most I think we had 30 members, and at that time when we did have 30+ members, we were the only clan that was truly a clan based around the mod that a few of our members, well Ex Leader created. After about a year of us being around we set out to create other clans that were based upon the mod that we ran and with in a few month had 2 other clans that were now based around the mod. Shortly after, a few other clans formed but did not last long or didn't get very large. Some lasted a while but never really grew.

This was all for the game RTCW, (Return to Castle Wolfenstien 1.0)

But enough of our history. Just give a brief explanation of some of the things that I would say have us known through out the gaming community.

I would have to start with

SandMod RTCW sniping mod

RTCW maps

Custom scripts written for RTCW

Sound and skin packs made by coRpSE and Agent for RTCW

QuakeWars flying config and video tutorials

phpnuke modules, scripts, support, blocks, and custom help

COD4 mapping

COD4 mapping tutorials

COD4 and RTCW tournaments

beta testing games

Working to help other mod teams with there projects, eith making custom stuff or helping others on there sites.

Custom splash screens I have on over 100 clan sites.

There are more, I just cant think of them ATM.

I, my self have donated hundreds if not thousands of hours helping other clans with there sites, setting them up, scripting, fixing there mistakes, upgrading, securing, or just customizing there sites for them. just to give an idea of how mush I have helped. On clanthemes.com, I joined there site on Sep 22, 2007 and became a member of the team with in a few months of joining there site. In that time to this date, which is the 3rd of June, 2010, I have a total amount of posts equal to 1411, and that is not including all the PM's and the off forums help I have provided which would easily double or triple that.

So we have been around for a while and pretty well cemented in the gaming community for now and like to keep our history going and building further.

MechWarrior Free Release Given Green Light

This is quoted from MekTek.com.

If you've been following the drama surrounding the free release of Mechwarrior4, than you would be aware that the initial announcement, made last summer, was a bit premature. After nearly a year since the announcement came, MekTek Studios is pleased to announce, that Microsoft Legal has given the all clear for the free release of Mechwarrior4. This hallmark movement by Microsoft Games couldn't come at a better time, as the Mechwarrior community is attempting a rebirth, amidst announcement of a Mechwarrior Reboot. Thank you Microsoft.

A few weeks ago we stuck our neck out and announced that our studio was struggling to see this release through to the end. We also released our MekPak 3.1, through our distribution and patching system MTX, which gave our developers an opportunity evaluate any unknown bugs. We're glad our announcement and release worked, and we have many to thank for raising awareness, as the release of Mechwarrior4 is now imminent.

Some of the people we'd like to thank, to name a few, are those reporting gaming news such as Joystiq, Bluesnews, BigDownload, Fragland, Gamespy, IGN, Shacknews, and Slashdot. We'd also like to thank all major gaming forums for keeping this topic in discussion and not letting people forget about the promise of a Mechwarrior free release. Of course, we'd like to thank our partners for pressing Microsoft to allow for the release of Mechwarrior to the community including Smith and Tinker, INC., Virtual World Entertainment, LLC., and Catalyst Game Labs. And finally we'd like to thank our community and the Mechwarrior fans for standing behind MekTek when things appeared to be at their worst. Thank you for your continued support.

Since the Free Release was cleared by Microsoft last Wednesday, the MekTek staff have been working dilgently to put together a patch to the current 3.1 release that removes the CD checks from the game. Along with this patch will be a number of bug fixes and an update to MTX which should help a number of common issues and speed up the whole process (namely hashing).

Currently MTX and the Free Release are being regression tested by our beta testers. As part of our QAQC process, our testers check and re-check every issue to help ensure as stable of a release as possible. We do not have an ETA on release at this time, but we will be releasing as soon as it is cleared for release status by our testers.

However, in order to satiate your desires for information, here are some of the bug fixes and updates you can expect:

MW4 Free Release (version .0020)
Privateer - Left Torso Damage Registers as Right Torso Damage - Fixed
Polar Tundra not installed proprly - Fixed
Shadow Hawk not available in campaign - Fixed
Mech Descriptions for Useens are Missing from The Mech Lab - Fixed
Dragon is IS mech not Clan (as well as other miss labeled mechs) - Fixed
Unseens descriptions missing - Fixed
Map "MW3-LavaPit" asks for "Disk 2" - Fixed
If MW4 Fails to connect to the Master Server Online tell you to check the MS www.zone.com/Mech4 for server status - Fixed
Version Error says"...go to www.mechwarrior4.com" - Fixed
Clicking On Server Tab causes crash - Fixed
Software Delay Flag may be confusing - Fixed
Bot Limiter - New
SW Delay Flag Occuring Too Much - Fixed
Player Selected Skins - New
Unseens listed in hosted server restriction menu - Fixed
HD Resolutions Upgrade - New

MTX (version 1.0.1.11)
Automatic Updates - New
UPNP Port Forwarding for Mechwarrior4 - New
Torrent Hashing Protocol - Fixed
Ghosting on Exit from System Tray and File Menu - Fixed
Minimize to System Tray - Fixed
Multithreading optimizations - Update

I also wanted to clear up some information on what the Free Release is and how the process will work. The Mechwarrior4: Mercenaries free release will be a patch that applies to the current MekPak 3.1 release. You will need to use MTX to download and install the 3.1 release. Remember, the 3.1 release is a complete version of the game; you do not need to install the game from the CD (though they are currently required to play) and it will not update previously installed versions of the game.

Once you have 3.1 installed, the Free Release will be a small patch that removes the requirement to have the CD in your drive to play.

Once the free release is out, be sure to click UPDATE to patch-up to the latest version.

In the meantime, use MTX to download and install the 3.1 release so that you will be one step closer once the Free Release is out. If you already have 3.1 installed, I'd recommend checking out AT:1 which is also available through MTX.

[HS] MP_DarkForest

Well, its 4:15 AM and I am tired, but I wanted to get this out for everyone. We at [HS] are happy to announce our first of possibly many COD4 maps to come. This map, mp_darkforest was originally created by snypir from CodUtility.com and was give to me a few weeks ago. And after what seems like a year, its finally done.

A few new key features that was added into the maps was the new gametype, S&D, which was not in the original map. More ground textures, which was missing in the original, also changed up the buildings quite a bit. There are more but I will leave it to you all to find them.

Supported game types are as follows: S&D, TDM, DM

Original Author, snypir from www.codutility.com

The Epic Fall of COD MW2

Infinity Ward’s community manager, Robert Bowling (aka FourZeroTwo) dropped a bomb on PC gamers this weekend. In what was set to be an otherwise low key appearance on the bashandslash.com podcast, Bowling divulged a monumental shift in the Call of Duty franchise. He revealed Infinity Ward’s intentions to take total control of the PC community with their new matchmaking service, IWNet. The message was clear: there won’t be dedicated servers in Modern Warfare 2.

The internet exploded in response to Bowling’s statements, but for many casual observers, IWNet may appear to enhance their online experience. The typical server browser will disappear in favor of an Xbox-like matching service, which will find acceptable games based on a player’s skill level. Bowling even promised that we would still have the ability to create private matches. Despite his attempts to sell IWNet, the response has been generally negative. This new service registered as a deathblow to many PC gamers (myself included).

As a result, Infinity Ward’s official forums were set on fire Saturday evening. Irate gamers picked up their pitchforks, and a mob mentality flowed freely without moderation. This knee-jerk reaction may have done damage to our cause, but many gamers felt betrayed by this news, and for good reason. This information could have been disclosed at an earlier date, and more time would have given the protest a chance at becoming a dialog. Infinity Ward waited until the 11th hour and pulled the rug out from under our collective feet. Some reacted to this news furiously, and they will continue to do so until their demands are met with some sort of public response.

Gamers don’t like being lied to. Less than a month ago, shacknews asked Robert Bowling if there were any changes to Modern Warfare 2’s functionality on the PC. Bowling responded simply and definitively: “[the] PC will be the same as it always was.” It’s unknown if this fib was intentional, or if Bowling was simply misinformed, but this was clearly contradicted by his recent revelations. It’s Bowling’s job to connect Infinity Ward with their fans, and so far as many people are concerned, he mislead PC gamers in that interview. It may have been more of a mistake than a lie, but it only serves diminish Bowling’s credibility.

But let’s put this into perspective—what do we stand to lose in this transition?

One of the advantages commonly associated PC gaming is modded content. This is a fairly broad domain. A mod can be just about anything; it can be a new weapon skin, a custom level, or an entirely new game. Games like Counter Strike, Team Fortress, and Battlefield 2 all began life as amateur projects, but less ambitious endeavors have still had a tremendous impact on the community. In many ways, the community has reshaped Call of Duty to fit our needs. The unregulated nature of the platform has allowed gamers to make PC gaming whatever we see fit—this idea seems antiquated in the face of certain regulation.

Enter: eSports.

For years, competitive gaming has been a cornerstone of the PC experience. There’s a league or ladder for every skill level. Call of Duty 4, like its predecessors, is immensely popular in these circles. It’s important to note how large of an impact IWNet will have on these “eSports.” Gaming clans require private servers to fulfill a variety of needs. Private rooms within Infinity Ward’s matching service may give teams a place to play, but it’s uncertain if they will meet their requirements. If IWNet uses peer-to-peer technology, we can expect less reliable hosts and unwelcome ping advantages. Without mods, re-balancing a game designed around public play will be nearly impossible. Mods and private servers are both critical here; without them, Call of Duty will be all but dead to serious competition.

The sects most directly impacted by this new system may seem minute in comparison to the scope of the total audience, but they’re by no means insignificant. PC gamers weren’t born yesterday, and we didn’t start gaming yesterday either. Our expectations have been formed by decades of loyal patronage and support. It’s not unreasonable that we might expect the PC to remain the enthusiast’s platform. We expect more direct control over our software. These high expectations have only been enforced by the relationship we’ve had with game developers for (many) years.

There are thousands, if not millions of gamers who may not feel the impact directly, but they will be categorically affected by IWNet. Nevermind the contributions that gamers have made to the industry, especially in this genre, consider the community.

Call of Duty has been the darling of PC gamers since it stole Medal of Honor’s thunder several years ago. Its popularity can be witnessed in every corner of the PC market. It’s hard to say what Activision and Infinity Ward’s real motivation is here, but it’s not a stretch to imagine that these systems are being put in place to support premium add-ons. Whatever their motivation is, we expect better treatment.

We still love Valve, because despite our recent disputes, they have shown us respect; Infinity Ward, on the other hand, lied. All of our most reasonable complaints and concerns have already been considered. Somewhere in a board room, people from Infinity Ward and Activision must have had this conversation. They weren’t born yesterday either, and they’ve been with us long enough to know how devastating this would be to their original audience. Personally, I thought Infinity Ward was better than that, but it appears that I was wrong.

Don’t listen to the people trying to quiet your voices. They might not listen, but sign a petition, post on a forum, or rant about it on your damn blog. Even if our dissent goes unrewarded, Infinity Ward and Activision need to hear us clearly. Make sure that the powers that be know that you won’t pay more for less. My message is clear: until this situation is properly resolved, do not buy this game.

[HS] site going through maintence

Over the past month or so, you probably can see that changes have been happening to both improve performance and give users more options. I have a whole long list of improvements but I will spare you with the grimy details. Just say that the DB has been cleaned out and optimized for better performance. Modules have been gone through and cleaned up, along with removing things and adding things to make the site run more smoothly. I also added 2 new themes. yes, they are the same, but different colors, I took the original and edited to match our clan colors, I did also have to create a new nav from scratch which sucked.

If you find any errors or have any suggestions. Please, post in the forums or send me a PM and I will get to them and work on them. That is the only way i will know of the errors and be able to fix them. Suggestions are always more then welcomed. All the improvements I have done were from suggestions and Chuck bitching and moaning.

Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2

Activision has named practically its entire 2009 line-up at an in-game advertiser meeting, including Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Speaking at an ‘upfront’ meeting with in-game ad company Massive Inc. (responsible for the famous Obama Burnout Paradise ad), Activision named its 2009 games including tentatively titled Guitar Hero 5, a new Tony Hawk’s and Modern Warfare 2.

The sixth CoD game was already confirmed to be under Infinity Ward’s wing (and not World at War dev Treyarch), but this news thankfully confirms that number six isn’t the rumored sci-fi spin-off we were dreading.

No details on the game were released, though it was roughly dated for release in autumn 2009.

In the meeting, Activision also confirmed that in the new Tony Hawk’s “you’re not going to be playing this game with a controller in your hands.” It’s out on PS3, 360, Wii and DS in October. We smell a peripheral coming…

Bizarrely (ho ho), the publisher also confirmed PGR dev Bizarre Creations’ first Activision racer will be a James Bond game. In fact it’ll be an original racing game that’s been described as “Mario Kart meets Forza”. Read more on that here.

We spoke to Activision this afternoon but unfortunately the company wasn’t able to provide any further details about the new games. Don’t hold your breath either, as it seems unlikely there’ll be anything more on them until early next year, but don’t let that stop you speculating in the meantime.
